When the cage door closes every fighter stands alone, but there is a team behind the scenes who helped to prepare him or her for the battle. For the Faglier family, that support system is not only bound by an ingrained love for the scrap but also by the blood pumping through their veins.

Patriarch Jason fought professionally back in the late 1990s before closing out his career and opening a gym. Over the better part of the next two decades, Jason Sr. would help his three sons develop a knack for the hurt game as well. What started out as self-defense and exercise became a passion, and it was an avenue Jason Jr. quickly found comfort within.

"I did a ton of sports in school, but I always trained," Jason Jr. said. "I planned my entire schedule around training. I did the other sports then go straight from those practices to training with my dad to work on martial arts. That's the way it was then, and it is the same to this day because I don't take any chance to miss it. If I can be there, I'm there." 

Fast forward several years and the up-and-coming bantamweight has made a solid name for himself in the Georgia regional scene heading into his main event fight against James Dunn at Conflict MMA 45 in Augusta, GA, on Saturday night on FloCombat.

In addition to having two brothers who also compete, and a former fighter as a father, Jason Jr. believes there is something his family finds in the ruckus that sets them apart from their peers.

"I see people all over the place who envy the relationship we have and the ability to have brothers who train with them," Jason Jr. said. "It's amazing to have them there with me in the gym. It's also an unforgiving sport and there are always those incidents where someone gets a little too rough and our dad has to step in. But by the end of the night everyone is always cool with one another and ready to train again the next day."

While Jason Jr. is headlining Saturday's card, his youngest brother, Joel, will also be sharing the spotlight. The youngest of the fighting Fagliers will compete in a kickboxing bout, and having his family not only in his corner but also trading punches and kicks as well is guaranteed to have their entire squad fired up.

"My younger brother is going to fighting on the same card this weekend, and that's going to be a cool experience," Jason Jr. said. "We've all grown up doing this together. It's the kind of situation where I would be watch TV and my dad would come up and sneak me or snatch me up and wouldn't let go until I did the right thing to get out of the hold. He would make sure I technically did what was needed to get out before he let me go. That's how I learned.

"We did the same to my little brother as well. It's just a family event for us, and we've been training our entire lives."

After dropping back-to-back showings, Jason Jr. is squaring off with Dunn in a main event bout that holds high stakes for the Georgia native. If Jason Jr. plans to keep his prospect label intact, a victory on Saturday night will be required. That said, he is confident he's done the right things to prepare and will provide some action-packed excitement once things go live inside the cage.

"I'm coming out there to prove I'm one of the best in the cage, and that's something I look to do every fight," he said. "It doesn't matter if I'm on a winning streak or had a few setbacks... I treat every fight the same. I go out there to give it my all and put on a show. I want to give the fans something to remember."
