Watch KOP 60 LIVE on FloCombat
With dangerous veterans, up-and-coming prospects, and plenty more on tap, KOP 60 spices up your Saturday in all the right ways. Here are three reasons to kick back and tune in.
1. Joe Riggs vs. Erick Lozano
The night's main event is flat-out wicked.
UFC veteran and former WEC champion Joe Riggs puts his six-fight winning streak on the line against the ultra-dangerous powerhouse Erick Lozano.
Riggs holds career victories over Nick Diaz, Chris Lytle, Phil Baroni, Cody McKenzie, and countless others — and right now he's looking better than ever. Since October 2016, Riggs has earned six consecutive victories, all via stoppage.
Getting past Lozano will be no easy task, however.
In his last outing, Lozano starched UFC veteran Tony Martin at KOP 59, earning the top knockout of December on our #FCTop10 countdown.
Before that, Lozano blasted Lee Siersma at KOP 57 in July with a brutal combination against the fence, good for No. 2 on July's #FCTop10 countdown.
When Lozano steps into the cage, bodies drop. That's just a fact. And coming off four straight wins himself, this matchup against Riggs provides all sorts of intrigue, as both fighters carry significant momentum into the showdown.
Can Lozano notch the biggest win of his career, or will Riggs move his own run to seven straight?
2. Coty Lopez Goes Pro
So you watched Lozano's knockouts and thought, "That was pretty cool. I'd like to see more of that."
Enter Coty Lopez.
The Michigan representative is an animal once the cage door closes, and none of his five amateur contests saw Round 3.
He went 2-2 with one disqualification during that stretch, with both victories coming via knockout and both defeats coming via submission.
Even the disqualification was vicious. After dropping his opponent, Lopez swarmed for the kill, but he got a little overzealous and launched a knee to the head of his already-downed opponent.
He bounced back from that blunder with a 31-second starching of Dejan Maricic at KOP 59 in his last fight, however, and now he looks to carry those good vibes into his pro debut Saturday at KOP 60.
When Lopez takes center stage, don't blink.
We warned you.
A High-Octane Rematch
Devin Smyth took out Erick Lora via unanimous decision at KOP 54 in March 2017, and Lora wanted a mulligan.
Smyth obliged.
Since losing his professional debut, Smyth — the godson to former UFC light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans — has been nothing but perfect, rattling off six straight wins with four finishes to cement himself as one of the hottest prospects in the Midwest.
But Lora is ready to spoil that momentum Saturday.
In eight victories between his pro and amateur career, Lora boasts four submissions and two knockouts, proving he can end things on the mats or on the feet.
While he's coming off a loss to Smyth's teammate Kalinn Williams, there's no doubt Lora represents a stiff challenge and is more than capable of pulling off the massive upset.
Will he shock the Michigan crowd Saturday?
There's only one way to find out.
The action begins at 8 PM ET. See you there.
