Just eight days away from its return to Adelaide, Australia, the UFC has locked down what looks to be its final fight.

Taking a bout on less than two weeks’ notice, sources tell FloCombat Roufusport’s Elias Garcia will step in to take on surging flyweight sensation Kai Kara-France.

Kara-France was originally scheduled to take on Ashkan Mokhtarian. Earlier this week however, UFC officials announced Mokhtarian had withdrawn from the bout due to injury (h/t MMAJunkie.com) 

An alumni of Dana White: Lookin’ for a Fight, Garcia made his debut this past summer at UFC Fight Night 133 in Boise. The 25-year-old fighter showed some promise, but ultimately was submitted by Mark De La Rosa in the second round.

With the UFC’s flyweight division coming to its expected demise in 2019, Garcia’s future was uncertain. Now, he’ll have the opportunity to save his roster spot if he can pick up a win over Kara-France.

A veteran of The Ultimate Fighter 24, Kara-France has been on a roll since losing to Alexandre Pantoja in the house. The 25-year-old New Zealander has won five straight bouts—three via finish—entering the clash with Garcia.
