One half of Cage Titan’s electric commentary duo, Richie Santiago is on the verge of UFC notoriety.
Tuesday June 25, Santiago will compete on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series against LFA Bantamweight Champion Miles Johns (8-0).
Santiago announced the news of Facebook following a report by MMA Sucka.
While many fans know him as the voice of Cage Titans, “The Milford Mauler” competed as an amateur for Cage Titans from 2014 to 2016 before turning pro. After turning pro, Santiago won six straight bouts under the CES MMA banner.
The 26-year-old Massachusetts native suffered his first career loss at CES 49 in April of 2018 against Matt Almy. However, he rebounded in November, defeating Billy Giovanella by first round submission at CES 53.
While he’s competed for most of his career at 125 pounds, Santiago will be moving up to bantamweight for the clash with LFA’s 135-pound king.
A product of Fortis MMA, Johns is widely considered one of the best regional bantamweights in North America, having defeated the likes of Levi Mowles, Adrian Yanez, and Caio Machado.
“[Johns] is a tough guy from Texas,” Santiago in a Facebook live stream Wednesday night. “8-0 versus 7-1, so the matchup makes sense. It’s going to be a tough fight--probably the toughest fight to date for sure. I’m excited to put on a show with this guy.”
