FloCombat May Events Preview: UFC Vets, Title Fights, More

With three UFC events and a pair of Bellator MMA cards taking place, May is a big month for the sport of mixed martial arts.

Keeping up with the status quo, FloCombat will be there to quench your thirst for violence all month long.

Four of the nation’s top regional promotions will be pairing up with FloCombat to bring you the best fights possible over the next four weeks.

Here’s an outline of what you can expect here on FloCombat this month:

May 3 | Valor Fighting Challenge 58

If you’ve ever watched a Valor Fights event before, you know this promotion is all about energy and thrills. Whether it be up-and-coming professionals, or the stars of tomorrow at the amateur level, this promotion delivers.

May 3, will be no different -- with Valor putting forth an eye-catching night of fights.

The main event pairs up two of the top amateur lightweights in the area, as Micah Downs takes on undefeated Tennessean Joe Long. Long is one of the region’s most hyped up-and-comers, and claims he is destined for UFC greatness.

In the co-main event Alabama’s Justin Abner battles hometown favorite Emory Norred.

Versatility is a Valor Fights specialty--the undercard features eight other mixed martial arts bouts as well as two kickboxing bouts and one muay thai matchup.

May 10 | Shamrock FC 318

Shamrock FC isn’t one of the longest running professional MMA promotions in the world by chance.

Entering their 318th event, Shamrock FC (and their phenomenal production) seldom disappoints.

The event’s headliner pins two surging middleweights--both coming off of wins against UFC veterans. Missouri’s Tyler Flores will look to advance his four-fight win streak to five when he takes on the gritty Daniel Vizcaya.

While Flores defeated UFC veteran James Bochnovic in his last outing at Shamrock FC 3111, Vizcaya submitted UFC veteran Joe Vedepo at Revolution Combat Championships.

Also on the card, athletic renaissance man Derik Scott fights for the first time since appearing on NBC’s Titan Games earlier this year. Scott, a former collegiate gymnast, earned second-place notoriety on the nationally televised athletic competition show, Titan Games, hosted by none other than Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Scott will take on Antonio Atkins at 155 pounds.

In addition, undefeated bantamweight Dustin Lampros will take on Raul Romero--a winner of three out of his last four bouts.

May 10 | Ohio Combat League 1

Also coming this May, FloCombat is thrilled to feature the debut of the Ohio Combat League. Their freshman event will be held in (surprise) Columbus, Ohio on May 10.

Already catching the eyes of many in the area, Ohio Combat League 1 features some of the area’s top fighters.

In the main event, Travis Davis takes on Tavae Lewis in a middleweight showdown. The co-main event features one of the area’s top pound-for-pound prospects, Isaac Steele as he squares off with Aaron Highbaugh.

Also on the professional portion of the card, Devoniere Jackson vs. Jake Miller and Lance Phillips vs. Ricco Ralston are slated to thrill the Ohio faithful. Kicking off the main card is a lightweight fight between Carlos Garnett and James Pfeiffer.

May 11 | V3 Fights 74

V3Fights has hosted some of the best fights in FloCombat history, even catching the eyes of the UFC brass in 2018.

In fact, Dana White visited V3Fights as part of the UFC series “Dana White’s Lookin’ For a Fight” early last year. Following the event, White was impressed with the event, recruiting Joseph Lowry and Bobby Moffett for his Tuesday Night Contender Series.

Other notable V3Fights alumni include UFC veterans Eryk Anders, Luis Pena, Devonte Smith, Bryce Mitchell, Eric Shelton, Thomas Gifford as well as Contender Series combatants Don’Tale Mayes, James Wallace, and Billy Quarantillo.

V3Fights 74 will feature UFC veteran Nick Roehrick, as well as former WSOF light heavyweight title contender Teddy Holder. Both men will be competing for the first time since leaving their respective major promotions.

Roehrick will be taking on Linc Batee in the evening’s co-main event, while Holder will be headlining against James Pirtle. Also on the card, pro lightweights Latral Perdue and Trey Manley collide.

A stacked amateur undercard prefaces the three exciting pro bouts.
