Ring of Combat 66 took over Atlantic City Friday, Nov. 16, bringing an action-packed slate of fights with it. Here's what went down.
After the original main event of Sidney Outlaw vs. Cameron Vancamp fell through, the Ring of Combat 66 marquee bout showcased a rare catchweight tilt at 150 pounds, with Shane Manley taking on Anthony Facchini. The co-main event featured a lightweight title-eliminator bout, as Joseph Solecki took on Gilbert Patrocino.
Manley and Facchini took advantage of the spotlight in the main event, putting on an exciting show for fans at the Tropicana and abroad. Both fighters are respected each other's power early, with Manley making the first move in taking down Facchini.
Manley turned his opponent over and worked from the top position, firing some big shots that failed to break through Facchini’s guard. Manley continued to be the dominant fighter on top, however, landing flush shots as Facchini relied on his patience and composure to survive and avoid any serious punishment.
The second round saw Manley pressuring Facchini against the cage, eventually securing the takedown. However, Facchini quickly snagged the arm-in guillotine during the sequence, and with Manley unable to use the cage to reverse the choke, he had to tap out.
Facchini got to his feet, making the “title fight” gesture to the crowd as he gets the second-round submission victory.
The co-main event had the classic matchup of the grappler taking on the striker, as Joseph Solecki outclassed Gilbert Patrocino. Solecki started the fight with a quick takedown and immediately rolled Patrocino into a body triangle.
From there, Solecki put more pressure on Patrocino by throwing strikes from the back. Patrocino escaped but is quickly put into a triangle, giving him no choice but to tap out.
Solecki has now six wins by submission and moves to 8-2 in his professional career.
