FloCombat ranks the top 20 North American welterweight MMA prospects for July 2018.

Rankings based off the following...

  • North American fighters only. For example, Thiago Moises wouldn't qualify for these rankings despite training in the U.S.
  • No fighters that have fought for or who are set to fight for the UFC.
  • Fighters competing on Dana White's Contender Series included.
  • No long-term Bellator fighters or champions. Exceptions for some preliminary fighters.
  • All fighters aged 30 and under.
  • Rankings based off age, record, and level of competition.

#1 – Kyle Stewart (9-0)

Stewart is coming off another stoppage victory on May 19th, when he submitted Chauncey Foxworth at Iron Boy MMA 11. He now faces LFA welterweight champion James Nakashima July 27 at LFA 46. 

#2 – James Nakashima (8-0)

Nakashima captured the LFA welterweight title after taking out No. 4-ranked Derrick Krantz by split decision back in September. The MMA Lab product will compete for the first time this year as he battles No. 1-ranked Kyle Stewart. 

#3 – Jaleel Willis (9-1)

The 25-year-old fighter rebounded from the first loss of his career as he knocked out Chel Rewin-Davis June 8 at LFA 42.

#4 – Sean Brady (8-0) 

Brady enters the top five with his unanimous decision victory over The Ultimate Fighter winner Colton Smith at Shogun Fights: Florida in March. The 24-year-old undefeated prospect has finished four of his eight career opponents. 

#5 – Derrick Krantz (22-10)

Krantz is coming off a split decision win over Kassius Kayne at LFA 42. The former LFA welterweight champion has won five of his last six fights. 

Notes 

  • No. 13-ranked Chris Curtis has been removed from the rankings due to retirement
  • Austin Vanderford enters the rankings in No. 17 spot
  • Austin Trevino enters the rankings in the No. 18 spot
  • Tyler Hill enters the rankings in the No. 19 spot
